Dadra & Nagar Haveli situated on the Western coast is one of the union territories of India. It is surrounded by Valasd district of Gujarat on west east and north while Thana and Nasik districts of Maharashtra in the south and southeast. The Portuguese were the masters of the land till its liberation on 2nd August 1954. The territory was merged with the Indian union on 11th August 1961. Towards the north- east the district is surrounded by the ranges of Sahyadri Mountain and the central region of the land is plain with rich and fertile soil. The main river flowing through the district is Daman- Ganga and its three tributaries. Dadra & Nagar Haveli is consists of two separate parts. Dadra is surrounded by Gujarat and consists of 3 villages while Nagar Haveli lies on the borders of Gujarat and Maharashta. It has 68 villages and has a town Silvassa which is the capital of Dadra & Nagar Haveli. The district is a rural area with 79 % tribal population. It has dense forests and favorable climatic conditions which help immensely for the growth of tourism in this part of India.

By Air: Dadra & Nagar Haveli does not have an airport within its territory. The nearest airport is in Mumbai which is 64 km from it. All major domestic and international flights operate regularly over here.
By Rail: The nearest railway station is Vapi which is located at a distance of 17 Km from the capital city Silvassa. All important trains are available at Vapi including Shatabadi, August Kranti, Rajdhani, Karnavati and Ahinsa.
By Road: Dadra & Nagar Haveli can only be accessed by crossing Maharashtra and Gujarat road network. At present the road length is about 635 Km almost all the villages are connected by the good network of roads. The national highway No -8 is just passes through the region. The capital Silvassa is well connected with other important cities of the country.
Best time to visit Dadra & Nagar Haveli: Dadra & Nagar Haveli do not experience any extreme climatic conditions .The climate remains more or less moderate through out the season. Summers are bit humid but the winters offer a pleasant weather conditions to visit this place. The best time to visit this place is from October to March.
