The city of Delhi belongs to the period of the Mahabharata, as per the legends and tradition. Formerly known as Indraprastha, Delhi is an amalgamation of seven cities. Indraprastha is the legendary palace and court of the Pandavas. Legends have it that Delhi's conquerors named the new cities through several of centuries. Thus they created seven principal cities by different rulers. There are also some cities that characterize with assimilated modernistic skyline. There are ruins that tell us the tale of the evolution of architectural styles of the times and the fusion of various cultures and influences.
