Location
Munnar is settled at an altitude of
1524 m covered by the lush greenery
of the Kannan Devan Hills. It is at
a distance of 130 km from Kochi in
the eastern part of Kerala.
Sight Seeing
Munnar is an ideal summer getaway
from the heat, dust and stress of
the cities. Munnar boast of some of
the highest tea plantations in the
world. The highest peak of South India,
Anaimudi with an altitude of 2,695
m, is visible from Munnar. The British
built the Christ Church in 1910 AD.
Built of stone, the church is known
for its stained glass windows. There
are several brass plaques in the church
placed in the memory of the tea planters.
Eravikulam National Park is at a distance
of 16 km from Munnar. The park offers
natural habitat to Elephants, Nilgiri
Tahr and Lion-Tailed Macque. Rajamala
Hills surrounds the national park.
At a distance of 10 km from Munnar
is Mudapetty Dam. It is a favorite
picnic spot among the tourists. Munnar
is place if you are interested in
adventure sports like paragliding.
