Location
Sangla Valley is situated at an altitude
of 8,900 ft and constitutes the part
of district of Kinnaur. It is at a
distance of 238 km from Shimla. Sangla
is lies on the right bank of Baspa
River, which is 17 km from Karcham.
Sight Seeing
Sangla Valley begins 57 km short of
Kalpa. The valley is named after a
picturesque and densely populated
village of Sangla. On a journey towards
Sangla beginning from Karcham is pleasant
and adventurous all through the route.
The scenic beauty of the valley is
picturesque and captivating. The valley
is also known as Baspa Valley because
of the Baspa River that flows through
this region. The places to visit at
Sangla are the Naga Temple, Sapni,
Rackchham, Kilba and Kamru Fort. One
can also go to the Batseri village
across the Baspa. It is a typical
Kinnauri village, which has retained
much of its tradition and customs.
The village is also famous for the
local hand woven shawls and typical
Kinnauri caps. Kalpa is another village,
which offers the view of the Kinnar
Kailash. It is the only place known
for plantation of Chilgoza.
