Location
Shimla, the capital of Himachal Pradesh is often referred as the “Queen of hills”. Situated at an elevation of 2,130 m above the sea level Shimla is named after the local goddess Shayamla Devi who is believed to be the manifestation of Kali. Shimla was the summer capital of India under British Rule. The superb walking trails with tall pines and majestic deodar offer the spectacular views of Himalayas in backdrop. Shimla is also very famous for its breathtaking beauty, splendid architectural colonial buildings, wooden crafts and apple orchards.
Sight Seeing
The Mall Road: The Mall is the main walkway of Shimla town that runs along the top of the ridge. It is a busy shopping area with old colonial buildings, souvenir shops and restaurants. At the end of the Mall is the Scandal Point and beyond it is the Christ Church known for its stained glass windows.
The Ridge: It is an open space situated in the heart of the town that presents excellent views of the mountain ranges. People come here to spend their leisure time or watching the breathtaking sunsets.
Christ Church: Situated on the Ridge , Christ Church is the second oldest church in Northern India. It has a very majestic appearance and stained glass windows which represent faith, hope and charity. Christ Church is a place all visitors should spend some time in.
Shimla State Museum: Ancient Historical Sculptors and paintings of Himachal Pradesh. The Museum, which was opened in 1974, has tried to project hill-out and the cultural wealth of the state. There is a collection of miniature Pahari paintings, sculptures, bronzes wood-carvings and also costumes, textiles and jewellery of the region. Visiting hours 10 AM to 5 PM. Closed on Monday and gazetted holidays.
Sankat Mochan Temple: On Shimla- Kalka Road NH-22 is a famous “Lord Hanuman Temple. It commands an excellent view of the Shimla town. The place can be visited by the Bus/Taxi.
Chadwick Falls: These splendid waterfall s are 7 km from the main town that falls from the height of 67 m deep gorge is an ideal place for picnic and to spend leisure time.

By Air: The nearest airport from Shimla is at Jubbarhati, which is 23 km away.
By Rail: The nearest railway station is at Kalka connected by narrow gauge is 95 km away.
By Road: Shimla is well connected by surface network with most towns and cities like Kullu, Manali, Dharamsala, Kalka, Chandigarh, Ambala, Pathankot and Delhi.
