Location
Srinagar is located in the western part of the Kashmir
valley in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. At an altitude
of 1,730 m above the sea level,Srinagar is crisscrossed
by the River Jhelum passes.
Sight Seeing
Srinagar is known for the famous,which comprises of a
number of lakes including the Nagin Lake. Located on the
eastern part of the city,one can enjoy a ride on shikaras,traditional
boat of Kashmir on the Dal Lake. The Shalimar Bagh and
the Nishat Bagh are very captivating Mughal Gardens located
on the eastern end of the Dal Lake. Jaluka,the son of
Emperor Ashoka,built the Temple of Shankracharya in the
3rd century AD. Hazratbal Mosque,situated on the northwest
shore of Dal Lake,contains a hair of the prophet. Shri
Pratap Singh Museum,situated on the Jhelum River in Lal
Mandi,displays a rich collection of Buddhist and Hindu
importance along with 200-year old textiles and carpets.
The places also worth visiting are Gulmarg,Sonmarg and
Pahalgam.

By Air: There is an airport at Srinagar,which is
connected with Delhi by frequent flights.
By Rail: The nearest railway station is at Jammu
Tawi,which is 305 km from Srinagar.

network with all the major cities and towns like Jammu,Chandigarh,Leh,Kargil,Gulmarg,Sonmarg
