Location
Yercaud is a small hill station in Salem district of Tamil Nadu located in the Shevaroys Range of hills in the Eastern Ghats. The Yercaud hill area is also called Shevaroy Hills. A popular tourist destination, Yercaud is situated at an altitude of 1,515 m above the sea level. The highest point in Yercaud is the Servsrayan Temple which is situated at the elevation of 5,326 m above the sea level. Often referred as Jewel of the South, the hill station of Yarcaud is well connected with the city of Salem through a 8 km long highway. The hill station of Yercaud is famous for the coffee and citrus fruits that are grown in abundance over here. Yercaud Lake: Yercauda Lake is one of the major tourist attractions of Yercaud which is surrounded by gardens and well wooded trees that enhances its beauty even more.
Killiyur Waterfall: The exciting and amazing waterfall of Killiyur is about 3 km away from Yercaud is best visited after monsoon. The excess water from Yercaud Lake and Shevaroy Hills falls from the height of 300 ft into Killiyur Valley that makes the visual more appealing and mesmerizing. It is paradise for trekkers and nature lovers. There are heavy woody forests from the lake to the bottoms of the falls which can be reached with in an hour.
Lady's Seat: Lady's seat is given to the cluster of rocks on the south west side of Shevaroy hills overlooking the Salem Ghats. It offer the tourists the panoramic views of the plains with the help of the telescope mounted at the place.
Anna Park: This beautiful park situated near to the Yercaud Lake is one of the major tourist attraction of Yercaud Hill Station. It is an ideal retreat for kids. There are few others near by parks as well such as Lake Park, Gandhi Park, and Children Park which are worth a visit.
The Grange: The Grange is one of the oldest buildings in Yercaud, built in 1820's by the then District Collector of Salem, M.D. Cockburn. It is one of the first commercial areas for the plantation of coffee, oranges and apples in Yercaud.
Shevaroy Temple: The Shevaroy Temple is one of the highest point in Yercaud which is situated at the height of 5,326 ft above the sea level. Dedicated to Lord Shevaroy it is famous for its annual festival which is usually held in the month of May. It is also renowned for hosting 7 day exhibition of flower shows, dog shows, boating races and a village fair.
Botanical Garden: The garden situated in Yercaud features a large collection of endangered species of plants including the pitcher plant and Kurinji flowers which blossom only after 12 years is the major attraction among the visitors. It has a collection of over a hundred species of orchids, of which about 30 are exclusively found only here.
Silk Farm and Rose Garden: Located just 2 km from Yercaud, very close to Lady’s Seat is located the Silk Farm and Rose Gardem. Tourists can here enjoy the cultivation of mulberries, growing of silk worms, and methods of silk spinning. Visitors here can enjoy the variety of rose plantations. The nursery in the garden sells the plants as well.
Trekking in Yercaud: For the past few years Yercaud has developed into a major trekking destination in the region. Many treks are organized over here by Chennai Trekking Club.

By Rail: The nearest railway station is at the Salem Junction and the Salem Town at a distance of 33 km.
By Road: Yercaud is well connected by surface network with the towns of Salem, Cheney, Tricky, Madera, Bangalore and Coimbatore.
