Jammu & Kashmir is the northernmost state situated in the Himalayan regions that share borders with Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and International border with China and Pakistan. Sprawling across the area of 2,22,236 sq. km. the state ranks 6th in area and 17th in population. The state of Jammu & Kashmir is broadly divided into three regions namely Jammu, the valley of Kashmir and the region of Leh & Ladakh. Srinagar is the summer capital of the state while Jammu is its winter capital. Jammu & Kashmir is the only state of India with majority of Muslim population. Hindus are the major part of population in Jammu while Leh & Ladakh is mainly occupied by Buddhists. There are small portion of Sikhs, Gujjars and other tribes as well in the state that filled it with secular colors.
