Previously a part of Bihar, Jharkhand is now an independent state that came into existence on 15th November 2000.The state is blessed with the gifts of nature. It has huge mines of minerals, abundance of forests, various tourist spots, heavy industries, prestigious educational institutes, temples and shrines. All these make Jharkhand a must visit destination. Some of the major tourist attractions in Jharkhand are:
Hazaribugh: The place is famous for its healthy climate. It is famous as a health resort and Hazaribagh National Park. At Hazaribugh there are several places of tourist interest. Canary Hills is a popular spot for nature lovers, Swarnajayanti Cafeteria is a major tourist attraction. Surajkiund is famous for its hot springs. Narsingh Temple and Panchmandir is the places of religious interest are also the major tourist attractions of Hazaribugh.
Parasnath Temple: The hill and the temples of Parasnath are considered as highly sacred by the followers of Jain religion. Parasnath hill also known as Samved Shikar is the biggest highest hill in Jharkhand which stands at the height of 4431 ft above the sea level. According to Jain scriptures it is believed that out of 24 Teerthankars 22 have attained nirvana over here. Both sets of Jainism Shwetamber and digambar have their temples on this hill.
Betla National Park and Palamu: It is counted among the prominent tourist attractions where you will find lots of tigers, elephants, deer, panthers, and various other animals along with some waterfalls as well as hot springs. There is a Tiger Reserve in Palamu was once the seat of the Ghero Kings and has a fort inside the forest. This is the second major national park in Jharkhand and is situated in the western part of Chota Nagpur Plateau. The park was declared as the Project tiger Reserve in 1974 and is among the nine Tiger Reserves of the country.
Gonda Hill & Rock Garden: There are numerous hills in and arounfd the Ranchi. Among them Tagore Hill, Ranchi Hill and Gonda Hills are quite famous. In Ranchi on Kanke road, just in front of the CMPDI headquarters is situated the Gonda Hill. There is a huge lake at the bottom of the hill known as Kanke which is retreat for the visitors. The rock garden is an artificial garden complemented with waterfalls and sculptures is awesome in its appearance is a worth a visit on a trip to Ranchi.
Hundru Falls: Hundru Falls is one of the most famous tourist attractions of Jharkhand. Enriched with plush green forests these falls are situated near the National Highway No -47 about 45 Km from Ranchi. It is perfect jaunt for picnics and is dotted with spectacular streams and gorgeous waterfalls falls from the steep heights of 320 feet. At the base of Hundru Falls is situated a pool where the visitors can enjoy various water sports activities.
