Seasons in Punjab: summer, rainy and winter.
Punjab is located at the North-western part of India, recognized for extreme hot and extreme cold conditions. April to August is characterizes for its excessively hot and dry climatic conditions. At summer the temperature increases up to 47 degree C. Winters are generally cool and covered with frosts in some regions. The average temperature of January is 13° C, though in night the temperature sometimes falls to freezing.
The region lying near the foot hills of Himalayas receive heavy rainfall whereas the region lying at a distant from the hills, the rainfall is scanty and the temperature rises high. June to August is the season for monsoon, then the annual rainfall can ranges from about 915 mm. In June the average temperature is 34° C it may rise up to 45° C. At the monsoon season more than 70 percent of the annual rainfall occurs in between the period of July to September.
Post monsoon season and the post winter season are the transitional Seasons in Punjab.
