Punjab is a well known state located in the northwestern part of the country. It is among the popular tourist and commercial destination and thus has one of the best infrastructure systems in the country. Travel in Punjab is hassle free as it is well connected with the other parts of the country by roads, Trains and by Air travels. There are ultra modern Airports in the major cities of Punjab located in Amritsar, Ludhiana, Chandigarh etc to handle domestic as well as international travelers. The state of Punjab also has an extensive railway network that connects it to the other major parts of the country. The main railway routes are from Amritsar- Ambala to Delhi, Sriganganagar-Ambala –Delhi, Ferozepur- Ludhiana –Ambala etc. The Samjhauta Express which runs from Delhi to Lahore in Pakistan also passes through Punjab. The state has a good network of motorable roads that covers about 54,836 km of extensive road network. Apart from extensive road network the state has several expressways and highways that connect major cities of Punjab like Ambala, Amritsar and other states of the country like Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Delhi and Jammu & Kashmir. There are luxury buses and buses run by the state Government to connect the major cities and other states with Punjab. There is also a bus service that connects Amritsar to Lahore in Pakistan through the Wagah Border. Besides this the local modes of transportation like taxis, auto rickshaws, tractors horse and bullock carts are also found in abundance in Punjab. Thus the state has all modes of commuting and transport facilities to have a hassle free traveling experience in the state.
