Sikkim is situated in the eastern Himalayas that come into existence on 26th April, 1975. It is the least populous and the second smallest state after Goa. The state borders with West Bengal to its south. It shares international borders with Nepal in the west, China to the north and Bhutan in the southeast. Sprawling across the area of 7,096 Sq. How to Reach Sikkim
By Air: Sikkim does not have any Airport. The nearest Airport is Bagdogra which is located in Siliguri, West Bengal. It is about 125 Km from Gangtok. This is connected with regular flights from New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai Kolkata and some other major cities of India through regular flights.
By Rail: Sikkim doesn’t have any Railway Station. The nearest railhead is Jalpaiguri near Siliguri which is connected to Gangtok by road. Jalpaiguri boasts an extensive network of rails that connects to the northeastern cities of India.
By Road: Sikkim has a good network of roads. One can enter Sikkim through northern areas of West Bengal, Darjeeling Kalimpong and Siliguri which connects it to the state capital Gangtok. The Sikkim National Transport runs bus and truck services Landslides are very common in hilly areas and create temporary road problems in the state.
Best time to visit Sikkim: Sikkim is an ever enchanting state that is pristinely covered with scenic beauty. The state observes five seasons, summer, winter, monsoon, spring and autumn. The ideal time to visit this state is from March to June and from September to December.
