The climate ranges from Sub tropical in the south to tundra in the northern parts. The peaks of north western Sikkim are perpetually frozen. The summers are warmer with the temperature exceeds up to 28 °C and is dropping below 0 °C in winters from November to February .It is between the months of March and early May when there is abundance of sunshine . The monsoon season starts between June and September. The rainfall varies considerably from place to place because of hilly terrain. Because of high humidity in this region the temperature rises up to 30 °C is considered to be uncomfortably hot. The best time to visit Sikkim is between mid-March and June but especially, April and May, when the rhododendrons and orchids are in bloom.
