Gangtok: The capital city of Sikkim is famous for its natural beauty that lures tourists from far off places around the world. The major attractions of the city include its various monasteries named Pemayangtse, Rumtek, Labrang and Tasuk - la-khang. Visitors can also visit Deer Park, Namgyal Institute, Keochalpari Lake, Tashi Viewpoint and Phurchachu Hot Springs.
Rumtek Monastery: Situated at a distance of 24 Km from Gangtok is a magnificent monastery Rumtek. It is one of the biggest tourist attractions of Gangtok. It is the residence of 16th Gyalwa Karmapa and houses the most unique religious scriptures and religious art objects.
Tsomgo Lake: Situated at a distance of 40 Km from Gangtok is Tsomgo Lake . It is tranquil lake that is surrounded by frozen hillsides. A further drive would take you to Nathula Pass which provides a wonderful view of Indo- chine border. Entry for foreign national is restricted in this area.
Pelling (Pemyangtse): Pelling is a picturesque destination that offers the breathtaking view of world’s third highest peak Mount Kanchanjunga. It is one of the major tourist attractions of Sikkim. Pemyangtse is one of the oldest monasteries of Sikkim along with many other monasteries like Sangachoeling Monastery, Dabdi Monastery, Tashiding Monastery and so on.
Khechepalri Lake: The sacred lake has crystal clear water. According to the legend even the birds do not permit even a single leaf to float on the lake surface.
