Agartala: It is a capital city of Tripura that lies on the Haora River and its distance from Bangladesh is about 2kms. The total population of Agartala is 367,822 and is also a consecrated place of loads of temples and palaces. It is unquestionably a planned city of Agartala whose credit goes to the then Maharaja Bir Bikram Manikya Bahadur and contain loads of 'Paras', which literally means the locality in Bengali or Bangla. Here people usually communicate in Kokborok together with other languages such as Manipuri, Chakma, English, Nepali, and Hindi. Nonetheless, you can also explore its attention-grabbing churches and temples.
Dharmanagar: It is basically a township and a Nagar Panchayat in the north Tripura district of Tripua. It was also once a capital of the state and its magnitude was approximately 450 sq. miles. It has many shops and playgrounds to offer you as retreat. There is a very popular pond in Dharmandar called “Dighi” situated in the close proximity to the town center and there is a very famous Kalibari Temple situated nearby Dighi is must visit.
Kailasahar: This town is essentially a nagar panchayat and is also a head-quarter of North Tripura region. It used to be the ex- capital of Tripuri kingdom. You will also find here the huge population of Bengalis living with their families since ages. The natives of the city take massive interest in the local festivities that take place here such as the Durga Puja festival that takes places amid September to October where from small to young to old all enjoy and feel exhilarated about the whole carnival. You can also plan sightseeing trip to other places like Unakoti, Lakhi Narayan Bari, etc.
Khowai: This is also a a nagar Panchayat and town located in the West Tripura district of the state. Its name was kept after the Khowai River passing by the township. The literacy ratio of Khowai male is 86% on average and female contains 85% and around 9% of the populace is below 6 years of age.
Belonia: Last but not the least, another important town or so-called city of Tripura is Belonia situated in South Tripura district of Tripura. It is brilliantly connected with Agartala by metalled road. On average its literacy ratio reaches up to 85% which is greater than the national average of 59.5% and its population below 6 years of age is 9 %. It has not too many tourist attractions to see but still its quaint charm calls for a visit at least for once.
