Uttarakhand lies on the southern slope of Himalayas range and thus the climate and vegetation vary greatly with elevation from glaciers at the highest elevations and subtropical forests at the lower elevations. The unique Himalayan ecosystem plays a host to the large number of plants, animals and rare herbs. The climate of the state is moderate that ranges from 5 ºC to 40 ºC. So the temperature is not very high in at summers and not very chilly in winters. Three prominent seasons of Uttarakhand are summers from March to June, Rainy season from Mid June to Mid September and winters from Mid September to February. In summers the weather of the Uttarakhand becomes very pleasant and thus the best time to visit the state is in summers. Certain areas of the hills become reasonably inaccessible in winter due to extremities of climate causing prolonged snowfall. The plain area seems to be at its best in terms of climate in winter, when the temperature becomes amusing in Uttarakhand. So, the weather is also quite varied, depending on the particular place.
