The religious, cultural social and traditional values of the people of Uttarakhand find an expression in its fair & festivals, dances, music, art forms, songs and cuisines. The culture of Uttarakhand shows a distinctive pattern with the elements from different ethnic groups and sub groups that reside over here. It is said to be the juncture where there is an amalgamation of different cultures of Kumaoni- Garhwal meet. The other groups of the people that greatly influence the culture of the state includes Jaunsari, Bhotia, Buksha, Tharu and Raji. In spite of modernization the bpeople of Uttarakhand still celebrate their traditional customs and participate in traditional fairs. The fairs of like he fairs of Jauljibi, Thal and Bageshwar have been closely linked with the trading activities of the people of this region, while the fairs at Dwarahat, Syalde and Devidhura are important from the religious and cultural point of view. Various festivals celebrated over here like Basant Panchami, Durga dusshera, Dikar Puja, Bhitauli ,Harela , Olgi, Khatarua represents the great cultural wealth of the state. Large population of the state follows Hinduism which absolutely belongs to the upper class and thus the major part of the culture of Uttarakhand is influenced by their traditions and festivals. The dances and music also play a major role in the cultural development of the state. Garhwal folk music, Jhumeila, Basanti is famous music forms of the state. Garhwal dance forms, Pandav Nriya, Barada Nati greatly influence the culture of the state and display the life style of the people of Uttarakhand.
